Good morning good morning everybody in the news this morning good morning. Is this reference old now? Ugh. I’ve just noticed it says “07” on the date there so I’m going to assume that it is.
Today’s newsletter will be short ‘n’ sweet because I need to get back to packing. We’re getting close to having everything done, finally. I’m ready to get this all wrapped up. The apartment is currently a mix between post-tornado chaos and a cardboard box-maze designed by Nickelodeon.
One thing about living in an extremely small space is that not only do you typically not have room for all your stuff while you live here, but when you get ready to move from said space, there’s nowhere to stack boxes. So right now, I’ve got to turn 90 degrees a minimum of three times to get from the living room to the bathroom. I guess at least I’m getting some calisthenics in.
This week we binged The Bear, which I thoroughly enjoyed (there are some obvious mistakes with the Chicago-related references — but I can overlook that stuff for a good story). I’ve also been watching both the UK and US versions of Love Island, which I’ll have a more to say about in the next week or two.
I also want to talk more about The Rehearsal, which is…perfect in every possible way. But I’ll get to that when I’m not under a teetering avalanche of boxes as well.
Without further ado — the week:
Headline of the Week
This headline from Futurism reminds us that it is actually: Chaotic Walrus Summer. In Norway, a walrus named Freya has been hopping on boats to rest and sinking them. What more do you need to know?
JUST LOOK AT HER.
Freya forever.
Wholesome Fun
A new video game was released this week, called Stray (from BlueTwelve Studio), where the player is a stray cat. According to Wikipedia, the cat “falls into a walled city populated by robots, machines, and viruses, and sets out with the help of a drone companion B-12 to return to the surface”. The game looks fun, and I look forward to giving it a go when my computer’s not in a box.
So far, though, the best part of the release has been: videos of animals watching the gameplay.
This begs the question: will someone make a VR headset for pets one day so they can play games? I want a dog playing Skyrim. I want a cat playing Sniper Elite 4. Iguanas deserve access to Animal Crossing.
Also, please enjoy this cool video of a lock from the 1800’s.

Okay, that’s it for this week! I’m off to cram some stuff into cardboard. Wish me luck as we start heading toward a place that doesn’t seem to realize what summer is!
(I should not have to wear a sweatshirt!)
Have a great weekend! I’ll be writing next week from the road!

EVERYONE is talking about The Bear. Looks like I'm gonna have to give in.
Freya is such a queen. Safe travels!!!
