Internet round-up for the week of January 16, 2022

WELL. I am having a DAY.

First off, let me say this: it’s nice and sunny here again, finally! And I had every intention of popping out of bed this morning and getting started on this newsletter.

Instead, I got laid off!

I found out by opening my work computer, like I always do, and realizing I was locked out of my email. In my personal email was a link to go log in to a portal, and the portal was basically just a website telling me I’d been laid off.

Actually, the exact wording was:

We have some difficult news to share.

We are reducing our workforce and are very sorry to tell you that your role is impacted and we no longer have a job for you at [redacted].

I don’t know why am I redacting that, I don’t even work there any more. Here, this is what I’m dealing with:

Turns out, the headline’s phrase “…to Cut…” means *already* cut.

So uh, yeah. These guys moved us across the country last summer and now, my services are apparently no longer needed.

This is my first time experiencing the BIG L - being LAID OFF! Wheee!

To be honest, I’m sure I’ve got some fun stuff in the ol’ pile for y’all this week, but I’m kind of still processing this whole thing. So, uh, yeah — sorry for the Friday downer, but it’s an extra short one this week!
