Happy Friday!
I’m pleased to report that I’m finally coming through the other side of Covid. It’s been a real drag. I still have some congestion hanging around and am pretty tired, but it’s a lot better than where I was this time last week. My husband is finally well and even tested negative yesterday!
I really want to be well, but also the Renegade Craft Fair is this weekend and I want to go! I haven’t been to one in years but they’re always so fun. We just bought some electric scooters (like a nicer version of the rentable ones) and it seems like the perfect time to use them to cruise up to Andersonville to look at crafts.
I’ve definitely been frustrated that we ended up catching Covid after so long, but it seems like it’s happening to a lot of folks who had avoided it up to this point. The number one Covid tracker is indicating another wave:
Yes, that’s people who somehow think that if they cannot smell a candle that it’s definitely the candle and in no way the extremely contagious airborne virus that makes you lose your sense of smell leaving one-star reviews.
As an aside, my sense of smell is currently a bit diminished. I can only smell things that are either very strongly scented or right under my nose. And I can only taste spicier things, meaning the majority of my Taco Bell Bean Burrito™ experience is the red sauce.
On the positive side -- it’s been a great week for TV. I sped through Lizzo's Watch Out for the Big Grrrls, which was really lovely and fun. I walked away from it thinking a lot about society’s (and my own) internalized fatphobia. And we also watched the entirety of WeCrashed, which Anne Hathaway is utterly perfect in. Plus catching up on Hacks and Strange New Worlds -- I’m a happy camper.
It’s been a bit of a slow week for me online again just because I’ve been sleeping so much, but here’s the goods I’ve got for ya:
I’m Being Personally Attacked
Okay look I get it, Millennials are not cool anymore. Maybe we never were. But um, ouch? We’re out here doing our best!! I can't do a middle part, I have a massive widow’s peak! Where are we supposed to take selfies from so we look like we have a chin?? Help us, don’t shame us!!
And also:
The amount of times that I have done this when AirDrop wasn’t working. How dare you.
Who Approved This Product?
A giant Apple mouse to ride in.
The charging port is on the bottom, just flip it over and render it completely useless while you wait for it to charge up.
Honestly though I will never get in a car with no windows. I get motion sick super easily. This is a nightmare. (And yeah, they can show you what it looks like outside on a screen or whatever -- that ain’t doin’ it for me.)
I Still Think About This
If you need a long read for today/the weekend, might I suggest this old piece about Double Dare from the AV Club? Even though it’s from 2016 I still think about it all the time, and every so often dig it out to re-read. It’s a fantastic in-depth look at a TV show that defined my childhood.
Randomly Selected Animal Cutie
This went viral on Twitter about two days after I saw it on TikTok. I cannot cope. He’s got his own little exit! Genius!
That’s it for this week! Send good vibes for a negative test for yours truly!
